The art and science of effective listening is a rewarding
skill, probably the most valuable and least understood area of communication.
How can you know peoples' needs, desires, concerns and motivations without
listening? Effective listening eliminates/prevents conflict, turns potential
adversaries into partners, yields cooperation and support, and ensures a win/win
situation for buyer and seller. But effective listening is not passive. The
effective listener is an active communicator focusing on a dialogue which
seeks out the needs, desires, concerns, and motivations of others.
